The Nike VR_S irons are the latest extension of the Nike VR franchise and feature NexCOR face technology for maximum speed and distance.
The Nike VR_S iron is Nike's farthest and fastest iron to date. Nike's NexCOR technology brings the face of a driver to irons for the first time. The speed-enchancing multi face thickness design maximises distance for a wider range of players. The NexCOR infinity design creates unmatched ball speeds by creating a bridge for ultra-hot, ultra-thin clubfaces. The NexCor face technology alters its location in each iron, based on impact studies carried out by Nike engineers, meaning each VR_S
The new face construction on the VR_S irons delivers a higher COR for more distance. This was done by expanding the COR zone from the high-toe to the low-centre of the club, where most shots are struck.
Nike's PowerBow technology moves the weight of the club further from the face thanks to an undercut design. This technology makes the Nike VR_S irons produce a higher, faster launch for maximum carry and straighter flight.
The VR_S irons are paired with a Dynalite 90g steel shaft option that produces the ultimate control, even with increased swing speeds.

The Nike VR_S irons uses the PowerBow features from previous irons to move the weight back and low to increase the forgiveness of the clubs and to make them easier to get in the air. It is a dramatic design feature that we like, but it does mean the longer irons have bulge behind the head that you can see at address that may put some people off.
At impact this also meant that the mid and long irons also sounded a bit hollow. However the oversized heads were very easy to get up and away on a mid to high ball flight. The NexCor face did seem to give a little more ball speed and together with the stronger lofts, the Nike VRS irons do deliver distance.
There is a small offset so we could see some mid handicappers using some of the longer irons in a better player's set, but otherwise the VR_S irons are really for mid to high handicap game improvers.
