Nike VR_S Covert Driver

The Nike VR_S Covert is the first USGA and R&A conforming driver to feature high-speed cavity back technology. Based around three technology platforms, the VR_S Covert is aimed at giving all golfers increased distance, control and forgiveness. The 460cc head comes in a visually stunning iconic Nike Red and with the crown hiding all the technology in the address position the golfer is given a clean and pleasing look belying the fact that the VR_S Covert is the most innovative club Nike Golf has ever produced.

The High Speed Cavity Back is derived from technology that has previously been used in irons but has now been incorporated into drivers for the first time by Nike Golf allowing the VR_S Covert to sustain more stability at impact to deliver more consistent energy to the ball which directly translates to distance and control. The cavity back is ‘covert’ as it can only be seen from the sole view allowing for the classic crown which hides how Nike engineers have moved the weight of the club to the heel and toe to increase MOI for an extremely forgiving driver that maximises distance on off-centre shots.

Rob Arlna, Nike Golf’s Global Golf Club Business Director told us, “the VR_S Covert is a game changing piece of technology. It is visually exciting, it feels and sounds amazing and, most importantly, it creates power results with a high degree of control”.

An intuitive, fully adjustable FlexLoft system incorporates 5 lofts and 3 face angles in each driver with a simple pull, turn and push/tighten mechanism and thanks to Nike's Dual Axis technology loft and face angle are independent of each other gibing golfers 15 different options to suit their game. Correct selection ensures that all players can optimise their ball flights for increased distance and enhanced manoeuvrability.

The VR_S Covert also boasts Nike’s NexCor face technology that has been developed to ensure faster ball speed and longer distance from a wider area of the club face through a variable face thickness that has moved the sweet spot to an optimal position high in the centre of the face where research indicates most golfers are likely to make impact. The driver has a wider breath than the smaller 430 cc Tour model and comes with a choice of Mitsubishi Rayon’s new Kuro Kage shafts that are produced with higher carbon fibre density for superior control and power.
