The Nike VR Pro Cavity Irons are a progressive set which feature Nike’s Opti-Mass Weighting System. The short irons from 9 to sand iron are a one piece design. The 6 to 8 iron are a two piece design and the longer 4 and 5 irons are 3 piece. The VR Pro Cavity heads have a larger cavity that is filled with a the Opti-Mass insert. This is an injection-molded blend of polymer and high-density tungsten to create precise weight distribution and more predictable distance, as well as being a vibration dampening tool.
Each head is features Linear CG Mapping where the centre of gravity moves gradually and consistently throughout each golf iron. This allows the centre of gravity to be adjusted through the set for conistent distance and trajectory and what Nike promises is ‘explosive distance with the trajectory required for tour like golf shots.’

The Nike VR Pro Cavity irons is a powerful iron with more forgiveness than the VR Pro Combo irons and a good medium high trajectory that is not as tour like as Nike claim. The thicker top line and slightly larger offset look very good in the longer irons, but the larger soles became quite chunky in the shorter irons. However distance was very impressive and swinging the clubs is effortless, particularly with the lighter True Temper Dynalite shaft. The feel is not quite as sharp as the Nike VR Pro Combo irons due to the insert, but otherwise it is hard to fault these clubs. The VR Pro cavity irons are really aimed at mid to high handicappers but we think low handicappers should consider adding the longer irons into their VR Pro Combo set.

Tested out these irons whilst also hitting the VR Pro Blades and Pro Combos. The VR Cavity Irons performed well, but didnt offer me the feedback and feel of the blades or the smaller cavity in the combos. I suggest they would be a welcome addition for that golfer looking to go from trying to break 90 to trying to break 80. Overall a good looking iron that produces.

The VR Pro Cavity irons fit nicely into the VR Pro range for the imroving player looking for forgiveness and performance. Although a little bit clunky for my liking at address they instill confidence and offer all the forgiveness that Nike promise - particularly forgiving on off centre hits. A good looking iron like all the VR Pro range these should make the short list for those in the market for a game improvement iron.
