The Nike SQ (SasQuatch) Sumo irons are game improvement irons designed using the same ground-breaking technology behind the SUper MOment (SUMO) of Inertia. As in all SQ Sumo products, it begins with geometry. Nike Golf's trademark PowerBow weighting creates a high moment of inertia (MOI) by repositioning weight low and deep to enhance stability. The MOI in the Nike SQ Sumo irons is the science behind straight and long - producing higher, longer, straighter and softer landing shots. The Nike SQ Sumo irons, which are packed with forgiveness, feature a long blade length and wide sole. A responsive ultra thin Cryo Steel face plate (Irons #4 - 7) is welded around the perimeter of the clubhead to increase the coefficient of restitution (COR) across the face for greater distance, further amplifying the forgiveness across the hitting surface. By nature, a thin-face, extreme perimeter weighted golf club head has the potential to create a harsh feel. For this very reason, the Nike SQ Sumo irons include a TPU polymer insert to prevent unwanted vibrations at impact for an improved feel.
Average rating for this product from 1 reviews
The Nike SQ Sumo irons are meant to be part of Nike's 'sqaure' family of clubs and the clunky design of the head certainly gives that impression, although in a positive way. Each club has a thick top edge and a slight offset which helps give you lots of confidence without looking like an out and out game improvement iron. Right through the set the Nike SQ Sumo irons were effortless to hit and the forgiveness was excellent. The ball trajectory was maybe a little higher than the Nike Slingshot 4D irons but the feel was definitely as good. The shorter irons seem to have a little more bounce on the soles than usual, so if you play links courses a lot then these probably aren't for you. Overall a very good set for mid to high handicappers.
