4.4 stars out of 5 (Based on 5 reviews)

The Mizuno MX-700 is the most powerful hybrid Mizuno have ever produced. The extra power is created by incorporating the Hot Metal ES230 steel face that is already proving so effective in the MX-700 driver and fairway woods. The clubhead is extremely responsive and has an ultra light face made from ES230 steel and 4-31 stainless steel body giving a far greater strike range on fairway shots than in previous models. The Mizuno MX-700's "Drop Down Crown" means the weight distribution is far lower in the clubhead giving a consistently impressive launch and trajectory on shots from any lie.

Mizuno MX-700 Utility Club Review

The Mizuno MX-700 hybrid is the third member of Mizuno’s Hot Metal family and the combination of the lighter ES 230 steel face and the 4-31 steel club head produces what Mizuno claim is their most powerful hybrid yet. Forgiveness is provided by the longer clubface which delivers a much larger hitting area while the distinctive Drop Down Crown pushes the weight much lower in the club head to help promote consistent results from any lie. We are big fans of the Mizuno MXFli Hi utility and we were interested to see how the MX-700 compared. The MX Fli-Hi looks and plays more like an iron than the Mizuno MX-700 utility which looks and plays more like a wood. The main differences were a longer shaft, a thicker top line and a deeper head on the MX-700.

As with the MX-700 driver and fairway woods, the MX-700 hybrid delivers a slightly higher flight than the Mx-Fli Hi but it is still penetrating and coupled with a decent roll means it is easy to achieve that extra bit of distance. The MX-700 hybrid is available in five lofts from 17 degrees to 29 degrees and it is certainly very forgiving. The sounds and feel were excellent and those of you with a higher handicap will see the Mizuno MX-700 hybrid as a go-to club on even your worst days on the course.

I had high hopes for this having been impressed with Mizuno hybrids in the past. And I wasn’t disappointed. Easy to hit from a variety of lies, the distance was consistent and the long clubhead certainly enhances the forgiveness. Another great member of the MX-700 family. But I really rate the MX Fli-Hi and it might take a few more sessions with the MX-700 to persuade me to replace the Fli-Hi in my bag.
