The Mizuno MX-500 driver delivers a high trajectory, optimum spin rates, and maximum ball speed for long, straight drives. A new, innovative graphite toe insert and graphite top crown allow the ideal amount of weight redistribution around the club head, thus positioning the COG lower and deeper creating a huge sweet area and a high, straight ball flight. Mizuno engineers were able to save 23 grams of weight in the crown by using carbon fibre composite, which is one-third the weight of titanium, and repositioned that weight around the club head to create an extremely low and deep COG thereby enabling players to launch the ball with greater ease for maximum distance. In addition, through an innovative graphite toe insert, 7 grams of weight was re-distributed low and towards the heel to square the face at impact resulting in straighter tee shots. A Perimeter Weight Slot further distributes weight deep and toward the perimeter for increased forgiveness and a high, easy launch. The MX-500 driver features the next generation of Mizuno's CORTECH multi-thickness face design which now utilizes six multi-thickness areas to generate the maximum Coefficient of Restitution (COR) the USGA allows. CORTECH in the MX-500 is a combination of multiple thickness face and high strength materials to ensure uniform face deflection and a thin responsive face for increased distance and consistency. Furthermore, the MX-500 utilizes an X-sole design which provides exceptional solid feel and sound at contact, and a maximum allowable USGA 460cc volume for unparalleled forgiveness.
The Mizuno MX-500 driver is a worthy upgrade to the very successful MP-001 driver. The head seems larger even though it is the same size and that gives you a lot of confidence at address. The off-centre hits were very forgiving and the sound and feel at impact was excellent. The composite head with the stronger graphite crown has allowed weight to be re-distributed around the head to good effect and it feels much more lively to hit than the MP-001. Priced at a sensible level, this is a great value club and Mizuno should be on to another winner with the Mizuno MX-500 driver.

The Mizuno MX-500 is a great driver. I went to the Mizuno fitting centre in Scotland (Cumbernauld) and was really well looked after. Fitting session was really comprehensive and I found I was hitting the MX-500 at least 10-15 yards further.

I have a handicap of 8 and my previous driver was a Taylor Made Quad R7 TP and I was very happy until i went along to the new national Mizuno fitting centre in Pachesham, Leatherhead. I tried the Mizuno MX 500 driver with a Graphalloy Pro-launch blue shaft and was hitting it sweet every time. It was difficult to tell exactly how much further i was hitting it but it must have been approx 10-20 yds further. The feel easily surpassed the TP. 5 minutes later I was ordering it and by modern standards this Mizuno MX 500 driver is a bargain at £200 (upgrade shaft included). If you get a chance to be fitted I would recommend going to a fitting centre to customise the shaft and loft. Overall very impressed and highly recommended.

Wow! I just swapped my Titleist 983k for this and it is incredible. The Mizuno MX-500 composite head offers a hot bullet contact. Such a pure face that I can swing at about 70% and not loose any yardage. For a company known for its irons, this driver is one of the best in the market. If you are looking for a new driver, test out the Mizuno MX-500. (one warning is that the standard shaft is light and weaker than most, I put a Fujikura in)

The Mizuno MX-500 is a Great Driver. I recently visited 2 demo days and tried all the newest equipment available from all the top manufacturers. After trying the Ping G5 and Nike Sasquatch and others, I came across the Mizunp MX-500. WOW !!!! I was bombing drives out the other end of the driving range even with a 25 mph side wind. I found that the Aldila Nv 75 X-stiff shaft worked best for my swing speed of 111mph. I had an Aldila NV 75stiff flex but it was just too whippy. I love the fact that just by teeing the ball higher or lower I can adjust the trajectory. This club is very easy to shape tee shots with also. The MX-500 is an extremely forgiving and super long club. I only need to swing at 80% to out drive my buddies with their R7s by 30 -50 yards. The short par 4s are fun to try and drive the green and cutting corners and working the doglegs is no problem either. My old driver was a 8.5 degree loft and my new MX-500 is a 9.5. I suggest getting fitted for best results. I picked up my Mizuno MX-500 and an alternate shaft for under $200 off on ebay, well under the Nike, Ping, Callaway, and Cobra prices. If you want to shave strokes off your game this is the driver for you. I generally shoot in the low 80s and since I have purchased this driver I have shot 75 twice and a couple 78s. I love showing up at the first tee taking one practice swing and crushing it 300+ yards down the centre of the fairway. It frustrates my playing partner who was hitting balls on the range for a full hour before I showed up. My advice to any player of any skill level is to buy this club you wont regret it.
