5 stars out of 5 (Based on 2 reviews)

The Mizuno MP Fli-Hi utility club combines a hollow technology construction with the sleek compact looks and shot-making potential to flow naturally into any Mizuno MP iron set. The MP Fli-Hi long irons utilize an extra-wide sole for forgiveness, award-winning Cut Muscle Design for precision, and Grain Flow Forging for soft, solid, consistent feel. With several of Mizuno’s latest innovations working together, the MP Fli-Hi is the ultimate long distance shot-makers iron. The Mizuno MP Fli-Hi irons can be fitted and included within any, and all, irons set make-ups, or added to an existing set makeup. The Hollow Technology construction utilized in the MP-Fli-Hi positions weight away from the forged face and neck, lowering the COG for increased forgiveness and an easy launch, while the Cut Muscle design located within the large cavity gives players the accuracy and precision they need to put it close to the pin from far away. The large sole design of the MP Fli-Hi, with a 0 degree bounce configuration and generous trailing edge relief for reduced turf drag, provides consistent ball striking ability from any lie on the course.

Mizuno MP Fli-Hi Utility Club Review

We think the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi utility club is the utility club that better players have been waiting for. It sits nicely behind the ball and has the look of a long iron, which will appeal to low handicappers. However it feels more like a rescue club when you strike the ball, but amazingly does not balloon the ball into the air. We tested it against an MP60 2-iron and the trajectory was very similar and you could hit it high and low, with a fade or draw with ease. When it comes to forgiveness there is no contest as the MP Fli-Hi is so much easier to hit than a normal long iron. Even though the sole is quite wide, the fact that is has zero bounce means that this width is not really an issue and it is therefore excellent from tight lies and easier to hit from the semi-rough than a traditional long-iron. Unless you are a masochist or someone who sleeps with their 2 and 3 iron, the Mizuno MP Fli-Hi utility club should be in your bag to replace your long irons as it does the same job, but so much more easily.

I have a set of Mizuno MP60s that I had custom fitted at Mizuno's excellent fitting centre, so I was able to send my spec for them off to Mizuno when I ordered my MP Fli-Hi and they matched it exactly into my set! I got the number 2 to replace my 2-iron and I can tell you that the 2-iron is sacked! The MP Fli-Hi does everything it used to do and more. It is so much more forgiving and the MP Fli-Hi trajectory is almost exactly the same as the 2-iron, which was a concern for me playing on a windy links course. I also like the fact there is no bounce on the sole of the club so that you can sweep it away like a fairway wood. I was so impressed the 3-iron is likely to be replaced with a MP Fli-Hi and even the 4-iron is on a final warning. If you have a set of Mizuno MPs then don't get the 2, 3 or maybe even 4-iron, just get the MP Fli-Hi equivalents.
