The jury seems to have remained out on the looks of the Mizuno MP CLK hybrid but I must admit it doesn’t really concern me too much. It seems to be becoming Mizuno’s traditional look for hybrids and I don’t find it distracting at address although it is probably no helped by the unappealing white shaft. Despite all that I was a bit surprised that Mizuno haven’t got for a more refined look for their better players hybrid. But I’m not a better player and I like to stick with what I know so I was generally quite comfortable with the appearance. I was also happy with the perfomance which produced a strong and consistent ball flight. This is a club that is designed for low handicappers so it understandably doesn’t have the same margin of error that I can rely on from other hybrids but it does its job when you strike the ball well and mishits are not total disasters.Compared to the excellent MP Titanium fairway wood the MP CLK hybrid lack the top quality sound and feel that you often expect from a Mizuno club and that is disappointing, and I’d imagine it will leave a lot of low handicappers feeling this is an opportunity missed for Mizuno to produce a true players hybrid. This is a fine club and consistent club but it lacks the wow factor that Mizuno are so often capable of delivering.

I play off 19 so this isn't really aimed at me, but I loved the looks and own Mizuno MP-58 irons which are also aimed at low handicappers but I also find pretty easy to play with. I tried them out in the shop and found I hit them pretty well. I've now been playing with them for about a year and really enjoy them. I don't always hit them perfectly but when I do, it is a fantastic feeling - the sound is sweet and the distance is extraordinary. The only problem I've had is when I'm in some bouncy rough and the ball is sitting up - the club head, which seems quite small for a hybrid, can then go underneath the ball. I have to tell myself to stand up tall and make sure I connect properly. Just read that Luke Donald uses these so they must be ok!
