The Mizuno MP-600 driver with FAST TRACK is the result of a long term Mizuno research project into adjustable performance golf equipment and features an impressively easy to adjust, weight movement system. FAST TRACK technology is a revolutionary fine tuning system that allows the golfer to quickly and easily impact their ball flight. By having two 8 gram weights that can be placed in six distinct locations along the perimeter of the driver’s sole, there are 15 possible ball flight options to choose from in order to find the ideal setting for each golfer in order to maximize distance and control. With the track located to the perimeter of the sole and towards the back of the 460cc titanium driver head, the Mizuno MP-600 inherently has a low, deep COG. This ensures that regardless of each individual’s ideal setting, the MP-600 will generate a high launch with a strong, boring trajectory. The Mizuno MP-600 driver also features a CNC milled, plasma welded CORTECH face design which utilizes multiple face thicknesses for maximum ball speed and distance across the entire face, a maximum allowable USGA 460cc volume for unsurpassed forgiveness, a classic head shape and extremely solid feedback.

The Mizuno MP-600 driver uses weights sit in a Fasttrack channel on the rear of the clubhead to allow you to modify the shape of shot. They are adjusted by the use of an allan key supplied in a clever little pocket in the headcover. There are six distinct locations for the weights giving 15 possible combinations as shown on the handy instruction card, but you can also fix the weights between these points for even more flexibility. As you would expect you can create a draw or fade bias by putting the weights to the heel or toe respectively. There also several neutral positions which increase or reduce the spin on the ball for a higher or lower ball flight, which we thought was more useful. So does the Mizuno MP-600 driver work? Yes but it is quite subtle. If you have a big fade then the draw setting is not going to cure it. However make a normal swing and you should get the shape of shot you require. The head is very classy looking, sits very well behind the ball and, depending on where you have the weights, the sound is very good too. However make sure you only move the weights between rounds and not during a round as doing so will get you disqualified!

The Mizuno MP-600 driver looks good and sits behind the ball well, but the fancy weight adjustment device doesn't seem to do much. The weights are easy to move around, but there didn't seem to be any difference in the flight of the ball depending on where you had the weights positioned. I seemed to get a low fade with every shot. Not for me.

With the Mizuno MP-600 9.5 degree Loft, weights in the 3 & 4 position, I gain 20 yards of run out due to the lower spin rate. Now that makes my day.

On address the Mizuno MP-600 driver looks great, however looks alone cannot legitimise quite a steep price tag. The FAST TRACK weights, set in the back of the head, do make the rear side of the club feel quite heavy. That aside once you have swung the MP-600 driver a few times you do acclimatise to this. Moving the weights around does not change the flight of the ball that considerably, was I to buy this club I would probably leave them set at ‘2’ and ‘5’ for normal flight. Also, the low COG in this club was not evident as while the ball did have quite a penetrating flight it was not a terribly high one. For me, the influence the technology has on the ball flight does not merit the price of purchase. There are better drivers out there.
