4 stars out of 5 (Based on 3 reviews)

The tour profiled Mizuno MP-52 iron integrates a Dual Muscle Pocket cavity to deliver an uncompromising balance of shot-making and forgiveness.

Mizuno have deepened the Centre of Gravity by milling twin crescents into the Mizuno MP-52 thereby delivering increased stability from off centred hits whilst staying hidden from the golfer at address, giving the MP-52 iron the classic clean profile. A central impact bar and secondary muscle pad (Dual Muscle) combine to ensure that both feel and feedback are delivered to professional expectations.

Designed to bring stability and forgiveness to a classically shaped shot-makers iron the MP-52 iron represents the future of design, combining game improvement technologies within the smaller more versatile club head.

The Mizuno MP-52 has a Dual Camber Sole that reduces drag from increased sole width and is Grain Flow Forged for solid feel and distance control.

Mizuno MP-52 Irons Review

The Mizuno MP-52 irons are another great iron from Mizuno but it is a major innovation for them to put essentially a forgiving cavity in a better players iron. When you hit them you can feel the weight lower and further back in the head and this does make them very easy to play with. The heads are more forgiving, they still feel great and the trajectory is still very good. As you can see from the video on this page, the Mizuno MP-52 irons are meant to sit in between the MP-57s and the MX range. Certainly if you are a high single figure handicap golfer and you want forgiveness in a more compact head, then the MP-52 irons would be the ones for you. However in our view we would be tempted to go for the MP-57 irons, which have slightly larger heads or the MX-200 irons which offer even more forgiveness.

I was lucky to get to hit the new MP-52 and it is yet another example of a great iron from Mizuno in the MP-Series. Providing that signature Mizuno feel off the club face the MP-52 has a slightly heavier topline but over the ball it still looks like a serious players iron. The dual muscle back allows slightly more forgiveness than the cut muscle in the MP-32 that is my current iron but delivers impressive distance and increased forgiveness and distance from off centre hits. I found it to be very workable and it had a confident look at address, this is an iron for better players who want a little bit of confidence on off centre hits but still want the feel provided by a quality forged iron.
