Golfalot Best Buy

The Mizuno JPX825 fairway wood is a ground-hugging fairway designed to fire the ball high, long and unwaveringly straight.

The JPX825 and its slightly on-set face ensure the loft is visible at address with an aim of looking easy to hit. The new L-Face, maraging steel construction allows a rounded edge between the sole and face allows the face to flex for high speeds and a longer flight.

The Mizuno JPX825's square face angle, combined with a deeply set internal weighting, promotes a higher flight with little deviation. While better players may find the JPX825 fairway resistant to shot shaping, they will be attracted by the powerful sound at impact created using Mizuno's Harmonic Impact Technology.

Mizuno JPX825 Fairway Wood Review

The Mizuno JPX825 fairway wood is a great successor to the JPX800. Not only does it look better, but it continues the theme of an easy to hit fairway that will appeal across the handicap range.

The head is actually a little bigger than it looks with a good sized footprint that is larger than most other better player fairways. We really like this size of head in a fairway and it also manages to stay on the right side of appearing rounded, despite the weight that is low and back in the sole.

The other big difference is the slight onset hosel that positions the leading edge of the face more in front of the shaft line. This means the club sits in a lovely neutral position and at address you have a clear view of the ball and face which is great for helpnig you line up correctly.

And it goes too. There are not many titanium fairways around and the Mizuno JPX825 makes you wonder why. The sound and feel is excellent with a powerful flight that zings off the face on a medium-high trajectory. The JPX825 was one of those clubs that puts a big smile on our face and we want to hit it over and over just for fun.

The JPX range is supposedly for mid handicappers but we feel that JPX825 fairway performs so well it should be looked at by single figure handicappers too.

Any downsides? Well, the black PVD finish came off pretty quickly on the leading edge of the sole and the bottom of the face after only one session on the range. That aside, it is hard to fault.
