Brought this MacGregor DX3 5-wood on a whim about 18 months ago and its been one of my all time faves. I wanted a lofted wood to take the place of my old 3 wood, and as most of the courses these days are relativly short, and my 983K driver is so straight, if figured that if I went to a modern 3 wood i'd probably not use it enough. I needed something that was a bit longer and more foregiving off the deck than a 3 iron and something that I could use out of the rough. I have the regular graphite shaft in this club and on ocassions I do leak the ball to the left a little, but its never been a problem to me and mostly the club is really sweet. The MacGregor DX3 steel head does make a bit of a weird noise compared to more modern clubs, but its quite a hot face and launches the ball nice and high and I can shape the shots when I need to. The standard grip was OK but when it rained you needed to change gloves regularly. When I changed to a Golf Pride V55 and had it thickened to the same size as the one on my driver it was just great (this has straightened my shots up even more so it was probably a grip thing anyway). The club was cheap, it works and hasn't fallen apart so I guess it does everything it says on the tin (as the TV advert says !!). Only complaint...... NO FREE HEADCOVER !!! Come on MacGregor, play the game !!
