What Golfalot Says

Mark Crossfield's Golf app is a video library of information designed to help your game. A host of more than 400 videos are at your fingertips, and are easily searchable to find the specific video suited to your game. Mark's videos are all two to four minutes long, and are easy to follow and understand. The down-to-earth nature of the videos makes you feel like you are on the range with Mark. The app will not win any prizes for design or oscars-worthy video work, but that is part of it's appeal.

The 'Record Yourself' feature is a unique and interesting addition to the app, allowing you to video yourself, send the video to Mark and get a personalised video response with swing tips and advice. We tried it and Mark was kind enough to post a video (shown above) the next day. This feature sets the app apart from all other instructional apps, but could use the functionality allowing you to upload your swing videos rather than needing to video it immediately prior to sending it to Mark. You also only get 10 seconds of video, so make sure and have someone ready to record you, or you will find yourself running to get in-shot, like those time-delayed family Christmas photos we have all been part of.

Overall, the app is great fun to use and the videos are personable and easy to understand. We advise you use a wireless connection to get the most from the app, as the videos link to YouTube and can use a lot of data. We found ourselves wanting more drills in the videos, rather than pure instruction, and an ability to upload swing videos, however these are minor discrepancies that Mark will likely add to the app over time. There is no doubting the app, it is like having having a local club pro in your pocket 24/7, for only £2.99.
