The Cobra Trusty Rusty wedge comes in three different finishes that are designed to rust over time for enhanced feel, versatility and shot making: black PVD finish, an all over pre-rusted finish and satin finish with pre-rusted hitting area.
Cobra's President Bob Philion says “Cobra’s first Trusty Rusty wedges were loved by golfers everywhere. We frequently get requests from our consumers and Tour Players to bring these back. We’re excited to be expanding into a new category, revitalizing the Trusty Rusty name with new finishes and improved technology."
Developed in partnership with short-game guru Phil Rodgers, each Cobra Trusty Rusty wedge is made from 100% raw, non-plated carbon steel that is 7% softer than standard chrome. The Tri-Bounce Sole featuring a Rear Scallop increases the bounce in the center of the club for forgiveness but also maintains a low leading edge. The grooves on the Cobra Trusty Rusty wedge are laser machined with post-laser miling creating four distinct surface roughnesses resulting in the maximum allowable spin.
Each Cobra Trusty Rusty wedge is paired with a Lamkin 3GEN group that features improved vibration dampening, as well as a True Temper Dynamic Golf S200 black shaft designed to reduce glare.

The 2011 version of the Cobra Trusty Rusty wedge is thankfully everything that the old version was and we are delighted to see it back. The Trusty Rusty has the same blade like appearance and narrow low bounce sole as the original. If you play on links courses, tight hard fairways or have hard packed/sandless bunkers then this club is perfect as it is so easy to make good clean contact without chunking the shot and the feel is excellent.
The thing that has changed from the last version is the new compliant grooves which maybe don't give as much spin as the originals which would zip the ball back from any lie. However they are right up there with the best in the current market as they do give very good grip.
The standard Trusty Rusty wedge is for better players as it can be a little unforgiving, especially on lusher lies, so if that is a problem, check out the Cobra Big Trusty Rusty instead.
The new version of the Trusty Rusty has had a makeover in the looks with flashes of Cobra orange and a black True Templer Dynamic S200 steel shaft which looks classy and is light yet firm enough to deliver great wedge performance.
There are also 3 head colours. A chrome version which has a 'pre-rusted' copper coloured face with white grooves, which is a little over the top for us, although the copper paint wears off pretty quickly. There is also a full 'pre-rusted' coppered colour version for a more rustic look, but our favourite is the all black PVD head that looks great with the black shaft.
Overall this is a great wedge and the 59 degree version in particular is a classic and if you play from tight lies a lot then one or two of these wedges should be in your set.
