Cobra S2 Graphite Shaft Irons

The Cobra S2 Iron replaces the successful S9 iron and comes with three key new design features to provide an iron that really delivers for the low to mid handicapper. The black polymer insert that featured in the S9 is retained in the Cobra S2 Iron but has been lowered to help move the weight of the clubhead lower and further back to make it less visible at address and to encourage a higher launch trajectory.

The full cavity back plate has also been redesigned to improve the visual of the club and to help reduced vibration and improve the feel of the S2 iron. Indeed, sound and feel have been at the forefront of Cobra's thining and using their advanced computer modelling system Cobra have also addressed the problems of sound and feel which can beset multi material irons. The S2 also has refined aesthetics compared to the S9 and players will immediately the straigher leading edge, shorter clubhead and reduced offset which help to give the S2 a tour like profile. Most importantly Cobra have also redesigned the sole making it a mid sole that inspires confidence like a wide sole but gives all the performance benefit of a mid sole.

The Cobra S2 irons have been designed to optimize distance and control while providing the feel and sound that better players demand. The sleek looking Cobra S2 provides the more skilled golfer with an iron that provides the control and workability that they demand while still providing the forgiveness that is sometimes required.

What Golfalot Says

Having been impressed by the S9 iron we were certainly keen to see how Cobra had managed the design improvements that are featured in the S2. We weren’t disappointed. From the moment we addressed the ball we were impressed with the Cobra S2’s appearance and felt that the cavity was all but invisible and better players will find that very reassuring. The club also felt nice and light and we really liked the low centre of gravity which makes the Cobra S2 one of the more forgiving clubs to be aimed at this end of the market. Cobra have also worked hard to improve the feel and sound of the S2 and we felt that they have been really successful in doing this and delivering the feel and sound that a better player would expect. The Cobra S2 iron was also easy to move left and right. It was difficult to find fault with the Cobra S2 Iron and we think that those mid handicappers looking to make the leap into single figures will really enjoy giving them a try.
