The Cobra Pro S9-1 S Driver is the shallower faced version of the new top end driver from Cobra and at address this is immediately obvious with a lower, longer profile than its Pro S9-1 D counterpart. The design has allowed Cobra to put the weight further back in the head to promote a higher launch angle and we certainly found that the Pro S9-1 delivered on this front, with a consistently higher, although still penetrating ball flight, than the Pro S9-1 D. Aimed at players with a high swing speed we certainly feel that your swing needs to be in this range to get the most out of the Pro S9-1 drivers, but if you do fall into this bracket then the Pro S9-1 S certainly delivers in terms of both distance and accuracy. With an excellent sound and feel at impact providing plenty of feedback, Cobra’s 9 point technology gives consistent performance across the face. Price wise, the Pro S9-1 drivers are heading towards the premium end of the market and the performance and finish does justify this. However there are lot of great drivers in this sector, some of which have a little more forgiveness, but this driver is certainly one to consider.
