The King Cobra L5V is the longest and most accurate Cobra driver so far. The club face, made from titanium with carbon inserts in the sole and crown, has a low centre of gravity allowing the majority of the effective hitting area to lie above the centre of gravity. Combined with the incredibly high moment of inertia value this allows all golfers to enjoy the higher launch trajectory and reduced spin that translates into long, straight drives. The L5V boasts the largest club face in world golf and this combines perfectly with Cobra’s hugely effective Dual Rhombus Face insert to increase the ball speed across the whole club face. A brand new and exclusive hosel design allows golfers to adjust the ball flight from the standard setting to a setting that favours the draw. The King Cobra L5V also allows golfers to change the shaft of their driver using an L5V torque wrench that fits the hosel screw port. A new swingweight screw for each of the three Diamana Red Board Shafts allows the club to be perfectly balanced with each shaft. All these elements combine to produce a club that ideally fits the unique nature of every golfer's game and provides the greatest distance and accuracy of any Cobra driver to date.

The Cobra L5V Driver is a premium club brimming with high technology and one that we feel delivers on nearly every front. Stretching the boundaries of design to the limits by maximising the legal length and width to increase MOI, and utilising Dual Rhombus Technology to increase the effective hitting area (up 13% from its predecessor the L4V) this is Cobra’s most technologically advanced driver and we think it is technology that delivers. The large club head gives a feeling of confidence at address, had good feel at impact and delivered a consistent, penetrating ball flight with impressive distance from all areas of the face - in fact performance on mishits was so good it seemed the L5V could cope with whatever swing we threw at it! Our only reservation with the L5V was the distinctive sound at impact that we found very loud – due to a combination of the club head dimensions and the carbon composite body – and was not to our taste. Aimed at all players the L5V comes in a range of lofts from 8.5 to 11.5 degrees and as it is a relatively low spinning driver we would suggest getting a model 0.5 – 1 degree more than you normally would. The driver is also adjustable and you can set it to one of two positions to encourage a straight or draw biased ball flight. The system was clear and easy to use and is definitely more user friendly than other adjustable drivers on the market. The Cobra L5V is an excellent addition to the premium driver market and the performance combined with great looks certainly justifies the investment required. If you like the noise at impact then we would certainly recommend that you get one in your bag.

The Cobra L5V is a driver that gives with one hand and takes away with the other. If this review merely focussed on performance I would be telling you to go out and get one now. It looks good and the distance, ball flight and consistency were the best I have experienced. You could throw any swing at this and the ball still sailed long and straight so impressive is its forgiveness. Unfortunately as all serious golfers know the sound of the shot is as important as the feel and I must say this is the worse sounding golf club I have ever tried out. When I first hit it there were people ducking for cover as they thought somebody had opened fire. A loud and ugly sound that is definitely not for me. Such a shame as it is such a brilliant driver in terms of performance. Two ratings then. Performance 10/10, Sound 3/10.
