Cobra L4V Driver

The Cobra L4V driver which stands for Limit 4 Variables, is the first driver in the industry to push the four R&A defined performance variables to the edge: MOI, dimensions, COR and volume.

The Cobra L4V is speed tuned for moderate ball speeds and features a high launch, mid-spin, draw-biased ball flight, optimizing distance for players who have a tendency to slice or fade. With its draw-biased club head and ultra-light weigth shafts, the L4V M helps players keep the clubface square at impact for long, forgiving and straight drives. The M shaft balance point is closest to the grip, which allows for an ultra-light wieght 52g shaft and more mass to be placed in the clubhead for increased MOI. This delivers moderate-ball-speed players mid-spin and extra-high launch for unmatched distance and foregiveness.

From the carbon composite crown and sole section to the tungsten back-weighting, this multi-material driver has been designed for maximum distance and accuracy..

The ultra-lightweight carbon composite crown and sole section, along with high-density tungsten back weighting, work together to shift weight low and back, generating a Moment of Inertia up to 5900. The result is that the Cobra L4V has the highest MOI of any driver Cobra has ever built – as well as the highest allowed by the governing bodies. This means less club head twisting at impact, promoting more power and forgiveness on off-centre hits. Club head dimensions have a strict limit of 5” by <5”. By taking the dimension variable to the limit, Cobra engineers pushed the weight low and back, resulting in higher launch and longer drives. Cobra’s patented Dual Rhombus Face insert technology, combined with the largest face area in golf, optimizes face flex to provide maximum COR across the clubface for the ultimate in ball speed and distance.

Cobra has also taken club head volume to the max. At 460 cubic centre meters, the Cobra L4V offers maximum power and forgiveness. The Cobra L4V has been engineered to propel the ball further and straighter than ever before and has been paired with one of the most advanced shafts on the market, the Cobra/Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Red Board, featuring Cobra’s exclusive Dynamic Shaft Balancing System.

Cobra L4V Driver Review

The Cobra L4V driver looks pretty good at address and delivers a very powerful and forgiving strike right across the face. This is meant to be Cobra's top of the range driver and it delivers well in performance, even if the sound is a little hollow for our liking. However for the money it has to compete against other premium drivers and here we think it is has met its match. Worth a look, but if you like Cobra then one of the cheaper models is better value.

The Cobra L4V M driver gave off a hollow sound at impact, with the ball coming off with more of a thud than a ping. This is mainly due to the carbon head, but it still just didn't sound like you had hit a good shot. I can't complain about the flight and the length the ball went, both very good, but the sound just didn't feel right.
