The Cobra Baffler is packed with technology to deliver the forgiveness of a fairway metal and the workability of an iron and is therefore ideal for the vast majority of 10+ handicap golfers who are seeking a more playable alternative to long irons. The major performance feature with the Baffler is the greater forgiveness, accuracy and distance on off-centre hits, just like the Cobra SZ drivers that have proved so popular with the everyday golfer. The perimeter weighted head houses a thin maraging steel face insert that creates a hotter 9 points across a larger face area to provide a more forgiving expanded sweetspot. In addition the centre of gravity is situated low and back to encourage a high trajectory and the sole is contoured to improve playability from any type of lie. The men's version comes fitted with a lightweight high launch Aldila NV-HL 65 graphite shaft to deliver optimum carry distance.
The Cobra Baffler utility club is one of the best rescue clubs we have tried. It has a longer head than most of its rivals and sits very nicely behind the ball to give you a postive feeling before the shot. They club head is very forgiving and unlike some other models, it is easy to shape the shots with all of the various lofts. Contact is very solid and on several occassions we got the same if not more distance from the Baffler as from the equivalent Cobra fairway wood despite the shorter shaft. Better players will love the #1 16 degree version as that had a totally different trajectory to the others - a lot more piercing and 3-wood type distance with minimal effort. It almost felt like cheating! The Cobra Baffler is definitely one you should try.
