Cobra AMP Forged Irons

4 stars out of 5 (Based on 1 reviews)

The Cobra AMP Forged Irons have the best of forged performance combined with Cobra's Advanced Material Placement, offering both playability and forgiveness.

Advanced Material Placement Technology redistributes weight around the head of the AMP Forged irons with high MOI tungsten inserts. Combined with progressive CNC milled pockets, they offer a higher launch and most consistent distance control on off-centre hits.

The thermoplastic rubber (TPR) aluminum medallion and TPR insert positioned in the cavity behind the hitting area deliver exceptional feel by dampening vibrations. The forged technology provides a more aligned and uniform grain structure, offering precise, smooth sounding shots with great feel.

The Cobra AMP Forged irons are finished with a custom orange Lamkin R.E.L. 3GEN grip and KBS Tour shaft.

Cobra AMP Forged Irons Review

The compact, rounded appearance of the Cobra AMP Forged irons at address is great although the heads in some of the shorter irons look a little on the compact side. The uniform grooves and chrome finish is very traditional and sits great behind the ball.

The AMP Forged is designed to be a better player's iron with forged feel and added forgiveness compared to a blade. Whilst the feel isn't as raw and soft as many forged irons, the forgiveness is a good addition.

The two tungsten weights in the heel and the toe work to provide that forgiveness and keep the head nice and stable through impact, even if they aren't the most stylish of features. You can really feel and see the added forgiveness, whilst still being able to control flight, distance and shape.

The AMP Forged irons feature a cavity in the back of the head, filled with a lightweight urethane product, that changes size progressively through the mid and long irons. You will hear the difference that this cavity makes as the sound is low-sounding and a little on the dull side.

For someone used to blade irons, the AMP Forged will certainly offer more forgiveness, but doesn't offer quite the same ball flight manipulation of a blade. The KBS Tour shaft is a strong compliment to the AMP Forged set and the orange branded Lamkin REL 3GEN grip is striking and comfortable.

If you are a low handicap golfer, that doesn't fancy a set of 'butter knife' blades, check these out. They will demand a higher price point due to the technology and Cobra branding, but we think they are worth the extra cost.
