The Cobra AMP Cell Driver features Cobra's new MyFly technology, allowing golfers to choose from six loft/trajectory settings to optimise performance and distance.
Available in four different colours (Silver, Barbados Red, Directoire Blue, and Vibrant Orange), the AMP Cell can be adjusted to lofts of 8.5, 9.5, 9.5 Draw, 10.5, 10.5 Draw and 11.5 degrees using a simple Cobra wrench. This adjustability allows golfers the ability to customise their AMP cell based on swing speed, course conditions and weather.
Unlike some drivers that require players to adjust the sole plate to maintain a square face angle, Cobra's proprietary SmartPad technology delivers a square face regardless of loft, but still offers workability to slightly open or close the face as desired.
The AMP Cell Driver maintains Cobra's E9 Face Technology with dual roll. Creating an 12% larger ellipical face shape with a canted bulge and roll, E9 Face Technology improves distance and accuracy on off-centre hits from heel to toe as well as above and below the centerline of the face.
Cell Technology and Advanced Material Placement (AMP) combine to optimise the AMP Cell Driver. Cobra's Cell Technology saves and redistributes weight in a granular way. Visible on the Cell band that wraps around the crown, this band shows where the weight is distributed, moving the centre of gravity to optimise the AMP Cell Driver for low to mid handicap golfers.

The Cobra AMP Cell driver certainly stands out from the crowd with its eye-catching colours. We think the red will do well, but the blue came out top on an online straw poll of our social network users. Either way they look even better behind the ball than they do in the shop, so don't be put off by this and give them a go as it will be worth it.
However there is more than just looks to the AMP Cell driver and the main technology focuses on a wide range of loft adjustments. The previous AMP range had 3 options of open, closed and neutral. With the AMP Cell, Cobra have changed the settings to be loft based with a range of 8.5 to 11.5 degrees.
Now this is a wider range than most adjustable drivers go to and one of the reasons for this is the fact that when you change loft you can also affect the face angle. Cobra have got around this with the SmartPad which is a 1.5cm bar that goes right across the sole.
This gives the sole a single point of contact with the ground no matter how you align the face and the face 'pivots' around this bar as you change the loft so that the face always stays square whichever loft you use. This is quite a clever solution to this problem and means there are no contrived pads to adjust on the sole, it just works as it is.
Although the head looks a different shape and size to the previous Cobra AMP driver at address, it is in fact almost the same. The sound and feel is a little better and the flight with the lower lofts is good and penetrating. The higher lofts go a little higher as expected but again the flight is penetrating enough.
The 2 draw settings on the 9.5 and 10.5 lofts give the ball flight a slight draw, not a big sweeping hook, so that will be useful for all you faders out there. The neutral setttings were pretty straight so anti-hookers will find them very playable too.
Overall this is a very good driver with a unique spin on the colour and adjustability angle. It may start off at the premium end of the market but even so is worth a try as variety of loft options are very flexible.
