The Cobra AMP hybrid looks very classy indeed with a sleek silver head that gives you a feeling that this is going to play more like an iron than a wood hybrid, which is the original idea. The head does give the impression that it could be larger, but the forgiveness is still very good right across the face and the sound was very solid.

Compared to the AMP driver and fairway wood there is much less draw bias with the AMP hybrid and the flight was penetrating without being too floaty. However if you want some more draw then you can use the AFT adjustable hosel to open or close the face. Even though the neutral setting is pretty square, better players may also like the open setting which de-lofts the club a little without seemingly opening the face too much.

The only thing about the AMP hybrid is that it seems out of place in the AMP range. Whilst the driver and fairway are predominantly mid to high single figure handicap clubs, the hybrid is much more a better player's club. The head is a little too compact and there is hardly any offset so you are going to need to know what you are doing with this club. Those with a few more shots on the field may be better off with a high lofted AMP fairway.

Overall though if you want an adjustable hybrid with slightly more classic looks and a flash of orange that plays more like an iron, then the AMP hybrid is for you.
