The Cleveland Launcher DST Tour driver has the appearance of a conventional driver but this masks it major technological secret. The Launcher DST is the lightest driver on the market.
The Launcher DST Tour tips the scales at just 292 grams, some 25 grams lighter than the standard weight of most drivers on the market today. The lighter club weight allows the golfer’s swing speed to increase and that results in more distance off the tee, with the DST promising a consistent increase of 3-10 yards.
The Cleveland Launcher DST Tour golf driver’s crown measures only half a millimetre and this helps redistribute lower and deeper in the clubhead to provide optimal launch conditions and to maximize the distance of each shot. Off centre and miss hit shots are less noticeable thanks to the trampoline effect and extra ball speed across the face provided by the variable face thickness of the DST. The variable face thickness has also allowed nine grams of weight to be removed from the clubface and positioned low and deep in the clubhead to create a lower, deeper centre of gravity. The repositioned centre of gravity provides a much better launch angle, a higher moment of inertia (MOI) and straighter, more accurate drives.
The Cleveland Launcher DST Tour driver has achieved all of these breakthroughs while retaining the traditional looks that golfers cherish. The classic pear shape head features a jet black crown with no alignment aid and the square to open face angle ensures that the Launcher DST Tour sits perfectly behind the ball at address. The Launcher DST Tour version features a 430cc compact clubhead and a 2 degree open face with a Diamana White Board shaft as standard.

The Cleveland Launcher DST Tour Driver replaces both the Launcher and the HiBore Monster XLS in the Cleveland range and it is a worthy replacement. Compared to the previous Launcher the head of the DST looks much more traditional at address and not as deep back to front. The head is still 460cc but it seems more compact and one of the benefits is a much better sound at impact.
The previous drivers were not exactly kind on the ears, but the Launcher DST Tour is like titanium butter melting in your earlobes by comparison. It is solid and the feel is excellent right across the face, which is pretty forgiving. Cleveland say the big difference is in the overall weight of the club, which is 25 grams lighter thanks to the new head design and the lighter Diamana shaft, which is excellent and a very good quality shaft for this level of driver. Whilst we are not sure about the blue flashes on the sole, the rest of the driver looks very clean and classy and several of our testers were pleased to see that there was no alignment graphic on the crown. Combine this with the E-Z Grab headcover, which is still the best out there and you have one of the best value for money drivers in the market.
