The Cleveland 588 CB irons is designed for skilled players looking for a traditional-looking blade, that is more forgiving.
Each forged, cavity-back iron is made from high-grade 1025 carbon steel providing a soft, yet solid feel on every shot. The tour-inspired shape features a classic-looking, compact clubhead with a progressive cavity back, thicker topline, wider V sole, longer blade and more offset than the 588 MB model. Combined, these elements inspire more confidence, improve forgiveness and optimise ball flight.
Each 588 CB irons features Cleveland's Tour Zip Grooves and Laser Milled technology, designed to produce the maximum spin and control on every shot. Both Cleveland's 588 MB and CB irons will be offered in a "split set", allowing players to construct a set including both irons. The set splits between 6 and 7 iron.

The Cleveland 588 CB iron was a very pleasant surprise when I picked it up. It has a mid-sized head that is a bit longer than previous Cleveland irons, but there is not much offset so this is ideal for better players.
The feel and forgiveness from the compact cavity back is excellent and unusually for this style of iron, the flight was quite penetrating. The Tour Zip grooves on the face are the same as on the 588 wedges and give good grip.
Right through the set the shape and performance is very good, but if you still want to play blades then there is the option of a combo set that blends the 588 MB blade iron from a seven-iron downwards. However we are not sure why you would need to do this as overall there was very little to fault with the 588 CB irons. Cleveland have consistently made good irons and this is one of the best they have done.
