The Cleveland HiBORE XLi irons certainly stand out from the crowd and if you are starting out in the game or have a complete crisis of confidence then these are the irons for you.

The already thick top line is then complimented by a large crown on the back of the head, which is hollow to move the centre of gravity back and low. This makes these clubs very easy to get airborne and we had great fun wafting the club at the ball and watch it take off on high trajectory with very little effort.

As you go up the HiBore XLi set to the long irons, the heads get deeper and look and sound more like a hybrid or small fairway wood, which is not a bad thing, but may take some getting used to if you are used to more traditional irons shapes.

The forgiveness across the face was very good and the higher MOI kep tthe ball on straight trajectory without much loss of distance. In our view this is a great set for higher handicappers and beginner and anyone who likes just hitting balls for fun wth a smile on their face!
