Callaway X-18 Pro Series Irons are the successor to the popular X-16 Pro Series Irons. Extreme Notch Weighting, a proprietary visible feature that raises each iron's Moment of Inertia (MOI) for increased stability and better results on off-center hits, combines with a deeper 360-degree Undercut Channel to achieve new heights of forgiveness. S2H2 (Short Straight Hollow Hosel), a staple of Callaway Golf irons for more than 15 years, allows weight to be moved lower and to the more useful perimeter area of the clubhead. An integral element of the S2H2 design is Tru-Bore Technology, which extends the shaft tip completely through the clubhead to the sole for greater feel and superior control. Finally, VFT (Variable Face Thickness) face design technology allows Callaway Golf to raise or lower the center of gravity for optimum trajectory with each iron in the set: resulting in a higher launch angle in the long irons and better trajectory height control in the short irons and wedges. The X-18 Pro Series Irons also feature a standard progressive offset throughout the set and fully balanced sole engineered to improve turf interaction and workability.

Callaway X-18 Pro Series Steel Shaft Irons Review

If you are familiar with the X-14 and X-16 then you will be comfortable with the Callaway X-18 irons. The Pro Series version has a standard offset and the usual Callaway top line and are set up to provide a lower trajectory for better players. The feel is solid with every club and certainly very easy to hit with a mid to low trajectory compared to the other Callaway irons. With the Pro Series the standard steel shaft is True Temper Dynamic Gold and with the stiff version it make the whole club very heavy. We are a big fan of the X-14 Pro Series and were not sure if the X-16 Pro Series was a step forward, but we think this is a worthy upgrade. If you don't want the whole set then the 2-iron would be an ideal replacement for a less forgiving version. For low handicappers who don't play Callaway and have the cash to burn then this set is an ideal choice. If you already have the X-16 Pro Series model it may be a harder decision to upgrade unless your old ones are ready for the scrapheap.

Decent irons. The Callaway X-18 Pro Series irons hit the ball lower than my current Titleist irons which I found surprising. Ball came off the clubhead with a decent fizz but they looked very chunky. I like a clean, thin top line and these certainly don't have that. They are easy to hit though.
