Callaway RAZR Fit Driver

4.8 stars out of 5 (Based on 5 reviews)

The Callaway RAZR Fit Driver combines Forged Composite and OptiFit Technology to make Callaway's first adjustable driver.

The RAZR Fit's Forged Composite crown contains over 7,000,000 turbostratic carbon fibres designed to reinforce 30% of the clubhead. The crown material is lighter and stronger than titanium, and thanks to a new Streamlined Surface Technology, it reduces energy loss from drag by 27% compared to the original RAZR Hawk Driver.

The RAZR Fit is Callaway's first driver to feature adjustability. The OptiFit Hosel adjusts the face angle of the driver to Open, Square or Closed while the 12g and 2g weights shift the centre of gravity promoting either draw or neutral biased ball flights.

VFT and Hyperbolic Face Technologies combine to create a larger sweet spot on the Callaway RAZR Fit resulting in higher ball speeds across the face. A chemical milling process selectively removes excess material for precision thickness control, meaning weight can be redistributed to the perimeter of the club for higher MOI.

The RAZR Fit is paired with Aldila's RIP'd NV Shaft.

Callaway RAZR Fit Driver Review

We were among the first to test the Callaway RAZR Fit driver and we were very impressed as the sound and feel are excellent. The 455 cc head has a lovely shape and Callaway say it is 27% more aerodynamic than the RAZR Hawk driver which equates to an additional 1.3 miles per hour extra clubhead speed. Now that may not sound like much, but it’s probably worth about half a club less into the green. The lighter forged composite crown helps the increase the club’s MOI and unlike the Diablo Octane driver, the carbon pattern is hidden from view.

Callaway has been using adjustable weights in their drivers since 1999, but they were pre-fitted, so the RAZR Fit driver is the first model where you have been able to adjust them yourself or with the help of a fitter. Combine the moveable weights with the new adjustable hosel and you do have a much more flexible and accurate custom fitting process than before.

This uses a sleeve on the hosel to offer 3 options for the face angle are clear and easy to understand and adjust. When you set the face to open it changes the angle by 2.5 degrees and decreases the loft by 1 degree. Set the face to close and you shut the face by 1.5 degrees and add a degree of loft, which will make the club easier to hit. One nice feature is that the shaft is not rotated when you adjust the face angle and therefore it keeps the grip in the same position for every setting.

We understand that the preferred setting on Tour is for the open face setting and the heavier 12 gram weight on the heel side of the head to promote a slight draw. We tried this and it is a very powerful setting but needs a lot of clubhead speed to work effectively. Our preferred option was to set the face at neutral with the draw bias weight setting as the head sat very nicely and gave a consistent flight with a soft draw. Whilst their Tour players will use this driver, the Callaway RAZR Fit is ideal for amateurs as most of the settings promote a draw to offset the general in-built slice of your average golfer. The effects of the adjustments on ball flight are noticeable, but we think better players would prefer an extra option or two in the shaft settings for a little more fine tuning.

This is a great driver- at address it is very sleek looking and increases confidence. I know its Callaway's first time with adjustability and people have said its a bit late but I find they have done a great job, as it is simple and changes make a noteable difference. Find the driver is very easy to shape either way aswell. One thing I didn't like about the driver at the start was that I found its stock shaft a little too long (45.5 inches) so first few shots were going right- until I got the shaft shortened. This was a personal problem that was obviously easily mended. Overall this is a great driver that is easy to hit and enjoyable to hit

Wow!.

Longest driver I've had. Upgraded from the R9 SuperTri and it feels pingier off the face and according to my GPS is 20 yards longer - in the winter weather.

Not as noticeable left to right changes as the R9, but tighter dispersion and, as I said, LONGER.

Won't be changing this one for a while.

Have just added this driver to my clubs to replace an old second hand McGregor. Absolutely love it, has made a big difference already. Like the way the club looks and feels and with the adjustability would certainly recommend this to anyone.
