Callaway HX Hot Golf Ball

The Callaway HX Hot has a new 3-piece construction that delivers blistering ball speed and surprisingly soft feel. The HX Hot also features the revolutionary HEX Aerodynamics for the consistent ball flight that has driven the HX Tour Golf Ball to success on the worldwide tours and at retail. Callaway's HX Hot Golf Ball boasts significant improvements over traditional 2-piece distance offerings. The new, highly resilient core ' essentially the ball's engine ' is super-fast and kick-starts a chain reaction that produces explosiveness of the HX Hot Golf Ball off the clubface. The revolutionary HEX Aerodynamics on the cover also are improved, with the hexagons and pentagons optimized to reduce drag, increase lift and maximize distance. In creating the HX Hot, Callaway Golf engineers successfully added feel to a distance ball by separating the high resilience core from its fast cover with a soft, thin boundary layer that reacts like rubber ' interacting at impact with the cover to ignite velocity while maintaining feel. The cover of the HX Hot Golf Ball also has been improved to reduce spin off the driver for a penetrating trajectory. Like other balls in the HX family, the HX Hot has 332 geometries on the cover, blanketing the surface of the ball with 100% coverage ' unheard of in competitors' golf balls and critical to the superior flight properties and overall performance of the HX Hot Golf Ball. Achieving 100% surface coverage allows Callaway Golf engineers to tune lift and drag properties of the ball in order to reduce distance-robbing initial drag and increase length-promoting lift during flight.

What Golfalot Says

In our test the Callaway HX Hot golf ball performed very well. The distance was very good and the stability in the wind was excellent. The feel for chipping and putting was also surprisingly good for what essentially is a distance ball. The ball is deisgned to have low spin off a driver, but it also had low spin off short irons and wedges and therefore is probably better suited to mid to high handicap golfers. Durability of the cover was very good and overall we would recommend this ball for those seeking extra distance without sacrificing feel.

The Callaway HX Hot was an excellent ball and, as a low handicapper, I found it a great winter ball. I got a lot of distance from it and the feel on and around the greens was very good for this type of ball. Unfortunately it did not spin as much as I would like on short approaches so is not a summer ball for me, but then this is not really aimed at the lower handicapper. Overall I would say that the Callaway HX Hot is an excellent option for senior or mid to high handicap golfers.

I'm normally a Titleist man when it comes to golf balls but this Callaway HX Hot ball impressed me. A little bit harder than what I'm use to but it felt great on the short game and when hit with a driver it went a long way. Don't think I would change from my Pro V1 but this is definitely a ball to consider for the mid to high handicapper which is where the product is aimed for.

The Callaway HX Hot is aimed at people who don’t want to generate a lot of spin and the ball doesn’t offer much spin. From the driver the distance is really great but it suffers in the short game. It sounds heavy off the face and it’s tough to get the ball to stop. Overall, nice ball, great for distance but not great for the short game.
