The Callaway FT-9 Tour Driver is the successor to the hugely successful FT-5 Tour range and offers the thinking, cretive golfer the chance to gain extra distance from the tee without losing any of the workability so crucial in the shaping of shots. Before it is even released to the general public the FT-9 Tour Driver has provide to be one of the most popular on the PGA European Tour. For the first time a Callaway Driver uses Hyberbolic Face Cup Technology to shape the clubface and ensure vastly superior ball speed across the entire face combined with Callaway largest ever face. The titanium face has been designed using Hyperbolic Face Shaping which allows Callaway’s designers and engineers to use the kind of high performance materials and design principles commonly found in aircraft and Formula 1 cars. The Fusion Technology which underpins the whole FT ranges allows the FT-9 Tour to create maximum perimeter weighting to ensure ultra forgiveness on ever off centre shots. Externally placed weights allow the FT-9 Tour to have its centre of gravity in the optimum location to deliver the ideal, penetrative ball flight. The Callaway FT-9 Tour Driver is already the choice of the Tour and promises to deliver to every golfer Tour style length and workability.

The Callaway FT-9 Tour Draw driver is a great composite material driver. The sound at impact was very solid and the flight of the ball was excellent. Compared to the standard FT-9 the face on the FT-9 Tour looks a little more open and 'further forward' at address so you may find that the Draw version we tested is what most players will need to get the best results. We were custom fitted for the Tour version at Callaway's excellent fitting centre and had to go for the Tour version as the internal weight was closer to the front of the face to keep the ball down. This meant we then had to go for the Draw bias version to help keep the ball straight, which does seem a bit convoluted, but it does the job. The ball does go straight or with a soft rolling draw, which is just what you want and it is nice have the re-assurance of knowin the ball is unlikely to go right. Most importantly for this type of better players driver the sound and feel at impact was excellent for a composite driver. The FT-9 Tour was pretty forgiving too, so if you are in the market for a premium driver then this is definitely one to try.
