Callaway Golf's Big Bertha Stainless Steel Fairway Woods deliver long-driving, fairway-seeking performance and exceptional value for all types of golfers. They have a modified version of the legendary Warbird sole for outstanding performance from any lie. Versatile and tour-proven, it helps you hit shots from any lie. Four-facet design is higher in the centre to help the club slide easily over turf. Proven technologies like S2H2 and Tru-Bore, with internal weighting and an optimized centre of gravity, give your great playability and forgiveness. You get forgiving performance and distance-enhancing trajectory, thanks to a centre of gravity that's adjusted to each loft.
In our view Callaway are still the boys when it comes to fairway woods. The original Warbird set the benchmark very high and the subsequent models did not really take the design forward much. However the Callaway Big Bertha Steel woods feel like they have built on all the strong points of that original design. A modified version of the warbird sole is back and whilst not as contoured as the original, it still provides the same ability to adjust to any lie. The head looks great and the increased size makes it more forgiving on off-centre hits than the previous Steelhead III model. We found that the woods were very easy to hit as you would expect from Callaway. The tracjectory was slightly higher than the equivalent loft of the Heavenwood, but it depends on what you require. There is an excellent choice of graphite shafts and the standard Callaway uniflex steel shaft, which is OK unless your swing speed with a driver is over 100mph.
