The Callaway 200 Laser is the cheekier little brother of the Callaway 300 laser and aims to offer a budget laser in a compact size.

Callaway 200 Laser

The Callaway 200 is about 20% smaller than the 300 and will easily fit into your pocket if you need to take it with you on the move. It is also just under half the weight at just 110g (3.9 oz) which makes this one of the lightest lasers on the market.

It comes in a royal blue plastic cover that has a rough surface on it to ensure you can get a good grip on it in all conditions.

Using the 200 couldn't be simpler as you just point at the target and push the black button on top to bring up the crosshairs and then point at the flag and push again to bring up the yards or metres to the flag.

The 6 x magnification uses PAT or Pin Acquisition Technology to lock on to the flag up to 275 yards away with claimed accuracy of +/- 1 yard.

It found most flags up to full range of my shots easily enough, even if it took a couple of goes for the ones at 250+ yards. You can also use the Callaway 200 to scan multiple targets with a single press and hold of the button.

As always you do get what you pay for and the speed of the Callaway 200 laser was a second or two slower to display the distances on the viewfinder than most premium lasers.

This is probably due to a lower spec to fit the price point and in itself is not the end of the world, but it just is something to be aware of so maybe try before you buy to see how you get on with it.

The Callaway 200 is powered by the usual CR2 battery and this is easily accessible through the pop up handle on the screw in battery compartment for easy changing on the course.

The eyepiece can be rotated to adjust the focus for those whose eyesight is less than 20/20. It also comes with a reasonably robust soft carry case that has a Velcro closing top and a karabiner clip and back strap loop on the rear to fasten it to you bag.

Callaway 200 Laser

Overall the Callaway 200 is a competitively priced entry level laser that does the job well. What you lose in slickness of looks and speed is made up for by the compact size and light weight.

This makes it ideal as a first laser for youngsters or as a cost effective partner to an entry level GPS watch to give you a combination of green and flag distances.
