It’s that time of the year, we’re all starting to spend that extra five minutes in the pro shop after our round on a Saturday. We’re snooping around and having a little look to see what's new - drivers, putters, bags, waterproofs, training aids… What’s the piece of equipment that is going to make this year, the year?

Titleist 2019 Carry Bag Range

As usual in February, most golf equipment manufacturers are introducing new bags to the market just in time for the new golf season. Today’s culprit – household name and premium bag specialists Titleist. Producers of arguably the most sought after bags on the market, it is introducing five new golf bag models across two distinct categories – Stand and Hybrids - for the 2019 season.

The more observant golfers among you will have noticed that the launch of this collection was commemorated at the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, with Titleist ambassadors taking to the fairways carrying the Players 4 Plus bags in classic black, white and red Titleist colours.

Players Collection

The Titleist Players collection features three beautiful looking, feature-rich designs including the Players 4 Plus StaDry, the Players 4 Plus and Players 4. If you’re a golfer looking for a lightweight stand bag without sacrificing storage or durability, the Players Collection seeks to fit that bill.

Titleist Players 4 Plus StaDry

The Players 4 Plus StaDry puts the focus on waterproof protection in a lightweight construction, said to offer ‘every element to protect you from the elements’.

Standout features include a StaDry waterproof construction with seam sealed zippers, high-grade aluminium legs and an advanced hinged bottom for added stability and durability.

There is also a self-balancing convertible strap system, coupled with dual-density foam for long lasting comfort whilst carrying the bag.

Available in 5 colourways, with 4 full-length dividers, and 6 pockets including dedicated water bottle and rangefinder pockets for £245.

Titleist Players 4 Plus

The 4 Plus puts the focus on lightweight design but still offers that extra storage for golfers who need it. Waterproofs, extra gloves, provisional balls, tees, drinks, pork pies, and a few more provisional balls – yes golfers really do need extra storage. The full-length, high capacity apparel pocket should see you right here.

Titleist Players 4

Said to be ‘a lighter more comfortable way to play’, the Players 4 couples premium materials with lightweight construction.

Hybrid Collection

The Hybrid Collection of bags are distinctly designed for golfers who want the option of either carrying their clubs or pushing them on a trolley. There are two new models – Hybrid 14 and Hybrid 5, which are said to combine the stability of a Titleist trolley bag with the added comfort of a stand bag. The Hybrid 14 offers maximum storage, whilst the Hybrid 5 is the more lightweight option.

Titleist Hybrid 14

The Hybrid 14 is said to offer ‘superior organisation’, which I take it means all the space you could ever need.

The Hybrid Collection features the same high-grade aluminium legs and an advanced hinged bottom for added stability as the Players Collection does. This seems a little strange to me as you’d have thought there may be some difference in the bottom of the bag to allow it to fit better on a trolley. Testing needed to get to the bottom of this one…

Double apparel pockets for maximum storage feature, with the usual self-balancing convertible strap system with dual-density foam for long lasting comfort. The top end of the bag features low profile top cuff with tour-inspired integrated handles.

Available in 4 colourways with an impressive 8 pockets for £210.

Titleist Hybrid 5

The Hybrid 5 features all of the same push and carry features of the Hybrid 14 but in a slightly more lightweight design for a smoother ride.

In the Hybrid 5 however the top end of the bag offers a lightweight, tour-inspired, low-profile top cuff with 5 full-length dividers and 7 distinct pockets instead of 8.

Available in only 3 colourways for £185.

The new Titleist Players and Hybrid Collection golf bags are available from selected retailers now, starting at £165. Customisation is available on all bag models.

As to be expected with a new collection of Titleist bags, these look stunning. They seem to combine classic Titleist styling with modern and innovative tech to keep golfers' belongings dry, whilst staying light and comfortable to carry.

Whether they perform to the standards we’ve come to expect from Titleist however, is something we will have to find out.
