Multi-material construction is something we hear a lot about in golf equipment these days as manufacturers strive to find the perfect blend for the best performance.

In the case of the latest range of Titleist's Scotty Cameron Select putters, material choice is essential to deliver the feel and feedback that has seen them become one of the most popular choices on Tour.

In fact Cameron has taken this concept a step further for 2016 as the new Select line has three unique multi-material constructions matched to each putter style.

The Master Craftsman himself explains:

This new Select line promotes feel while expanding what’s possible with performance. We’ve extended the methodology of our proven multi-material technology to include new stainless steel inlays for blades, as well as aluminium inlays for the mid-mallet models. The result is a better look, a better sound, a better feel and a better product.

The new face inlay technology differs from traditional face inserts by wrapping around the sole of the club thereby disappearing from the players view rather than simply occupying a central area of the face.

The design and materials used for the inlays have been specifically selected to complement the shape and size of each putter.

Scott Cameron Select Newport 3 Putter - New For 2017

Scotty Cameron has added to his Select line in 2017 with the addition of the teardrop-shaped, heel shafted mid-mallet Newport 3 putter.

The heel-shafted mid-mallet, based on the classic Newport head shape, is designed with a flow neck (with ¾” offset) for players that need maximum toe flow in their stroke.

Multi-material technology – featuring a precision milled, lightweight 6061 aircraft grade aluminium face inlay fused to the precision-milled 303 stainless steel body – distributes weight for higher MOI performance. This multi-material design combines with Scotty’s tour-proven heel-and-toe sole weighting technology to increase stability and forgiveness throughout the stroke.

The Newport heel-and-toe weighted blades are perhaps the most recognisable of the long standing Select line up and these latest versions are again suited to flowing putting strokes.

They have a precision milled sole-to-topline 303 stainless steel inlay that is hand polished to a brilliant metallic finish. This is then bonded to the stainless steel body of the putter using a high-tech vibration dampening material that combines with the inlay to give the unique feel and feedback at impact.

Scotty Cameron Select Newport 2 Notchback Putter

The Newport 2 Notchback is a slightly larger, angular modern blade with a notched flange. To complement this design Cameron has paired it with a gun metal grey 6061 aircraft grade aluminium for the sole-to-topline insert. The lightweight nature of the aluminium, once again bonded to the body with vibration dampening material, allows more of the weight of the putter to be moved to the perimeter to increase MOI and stability.

The Newport 2 Notchback is also available in a Dual Balance model for players looking for even more stability in the stroke. The Notchback DB has a 50g heavier head and a 50g counterweight in the butt of the shaft to aid players in making a proper stroke.

Scotty Cameron Select Newport M1 and Newport M2 Putters

The Newport M1 and Newport M2 are mid-mallet putters and these models combine the 6061 aircraft grade aluminium inlay with Scotty Cameron's unique face-sole pop through technology.

The face-sole is a single piece of lightweight aluminium that makes up the face inlay, wraps down and around to create the midsection of the sole and then comes up through the flange to form the alignment aid.

This construction concentrates the weight of the putter on the perimeter to give higher MOI and stability to players with straight back and straight through putting strokes.

Like the other models, the aluminium face-sole is attached to the stainless steel body of the putter with vibration dampening material that fine tunes sound, feel and feedback.

All of the Select putters feature advanced stability weighting with two, customisable stainless steel heel-toe weights, stepless steel shafts and Red Matador mid-size grips and the raw stainless steel body has been finished to give a radiant yet glare resistant appearance.
