The Karsten TR line of putters from Ping are named after the company's founder, Karsten Solheim, and offer modern technology in five traditional shapes with an old-style copper finish.

Ping have taken a handful of their most popular models and given them a Karsten True Roll makeover for the 2014 season. The traditional look and shapes now feature Ping's variable-depth groove technology.

Milled directly into the face of the putters, the variable-depth grooves are deepest in the middle of the face and get shallower towards the edges of the clubhead. Ping say this design offers the best distance control for putts, whether a putt is struck in the middle or towards the heel or toe.

Ping Karsten TR Face Grooves

One the most important aspects of any putter is feel. Golfers demand a specific type of feel and sound on the greens. Ping understand this and have taken measures to address it. The "Ping" badge in the back of the head may look like standard branding, but it is actually a soft, elastomer material designed to enhance the "auditory feedback" of the Karsten TR putters.

Each of the five models Ping chose are specifically suited to one of three stroke types: strong arc, slight arc or straight. Whilst all the models are based largely on the original Anser shape, the weighting and hosel design of each dictates which stroke it is for.

The Anser 2, B60 and Pal models are suited to the largest group of golfers who have a slight arc in their stroke, whilst the Anser 5 is suited to a straight stroke and the Zing models suits those players with a strong arcing stroke.

Ping Karsten Adjustable Stroke Types

Not sure what type of stroke you have? Why not try the Ping iPING putting app.

To further ensure the Ping Karsten TR putter is suited to you and your stroke, Ping have made it adjustable. Whilst the standard model will not be adjustable, golfers will have the option of paying slightly more for the adjustable, telescoping version (RRP £153).

Using a simple wrench provided, players will be able to adjust the length of the adjustable shaft from 31 to 38 inches to ensure the putter feels and sits best to optimize accuracy and feel.
