Alongside the Nike VRS Covert 2.0 fairway wood, Nike have launched a Tour version. The VRS Covert 2.0 Tour fairway wood is more compact than the standard version and also offers Nike's FlexLoft adjustability.

Where the standard model features a silver sole and face design, the Tour version features this dark, stealth look, much like the VRS Covert 2.0 Tour driver.

To offer better players the ability to fine-tune their ball flight, Nike's FlexLoft adjustability allows the VRS Covert 2.0 Tour fairway to be set to a range of four degrees of loft and three face angles. Nike have designed a simple pull, turn, push, tighten hosel that adjusts the loft and face angle independent of one another.

The adjustable 3-wood can be set to 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 degrees, whilst the 5-wood can be altered to offer 17, 18, 19, 20 or 21 degrees of loft. Each loft setting can be further customised to favour a left, right or neutral bias by adjusting the face angle.

Featured in all the new VRS Covert 2.0 woods is Nike's latest technology, named Fly-Brace.

“It’s similar to an automotive frame design,” Radcliffe adds. “Fly-Brace technology reinforces the rearward portion of the club head to focus impact stress, flexing and subsequent energy transfer to the point of impact.”

The new construction, cavity back design and profile shape mean the the VRS Covert 2.0 Tour fairway wood has a lower centre of gravity than before and can offer faster ball speeds. Nike tell us the new design spins up to 600 rpm less and goes an average of 8 yards further than previous models.

Beyond the techie- talk, the look of the VRS Covert 2.0 Tour fairway hasn't changed much. It is more of an upgrade than a redesign. The shape at address is less rounded than the 2013 version, a "2.0" replaces the "Covert" alignment aid and the iconic Nike swoosh is smaller and more subtle than before.

VRS Covert Tour vs VRS Covert 2.0 Tour Fairway Wood

The second generation Covert Tour fairway wood comes complete with a second generation premium shaft. Mitsubishi Rayon’s Kuro Kage Silver shaft weighs 70 grams and features a Titanium Nickel fiber in the tip section that creates more stability and lower spin.
