It's that time of year again. As we head towards the Christmas holidays, more and more snaps appear of tour players trying out their manufacturer's latest and greatest gear before it hits the shelves in the new year.

This week's RSM Classic on the PGA Tour signals the first time that the new Titleist Vokey Design SM8 wedges will be available to Titleist tour players for testing.

This marks the beginning of Titleist's 'tour seeding and validation' process - essentially, if it's good enough for the pros, then it'll be good enough for us too.

The Vokey wedge range has been the most-played on tour since 2004 and is one of the most instantly-recognisable and well-regarded in the game, with many non-contracted golfers choosing to play Vokey wedges such as 2018's SM7 model when given the choice.

Wedge guru and Master Craftsman Bob Vokey will be on site at Sea Island this week, alongside Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill and Director of Wedge R&D Kevin Tassitro. They will be on hand to introduce players to the new SM8's and fit them into the best bounce and grind setups for their game.

This tour debut comes after months of pre-testing and different iterations of wedge design with prototype trials taking place during practice rounds on the Tour. Players commented on improved flight and feel, with overall better results.

The SM8 wedges should be set for release in the early stages of 2020. Of course, Golfalot will have a full, in-depth review of the new wedge range so stay tuned for more updates coming very soon!
