It's been a busy few months for FootJoy. Following the launch of their premium DNA shoe earlier this month, they have announced the arrival of their new HydroLite shoe.

So what is HydroLite?

Simple really, the clue is the name. Hydro, water. Lite, lightweight. The FootJoy HydroLite is a lightweight, waterproof shoe that is built to be both stable and comfortable in a low-profile design.

FootJoy HydroLite Shoe

The HydroLite represents a new dawn for FootJoy's mid-price-point shoe category, as a more affordable option than FootJoy's big four models. Sporting a modern new look, the design features a waterproof, lightweight, leather upper combined with a flexible, stable, low-profile outsole.

One of the buzz words in FootJoy this year is "options", and the HydroLite embraces a lot of FootJoy's latest versatility. For example, beyond the 8 different colour options available, the HydroLite is available in three different styles.

First is the more traditional laced/spiked option. Available in five colour options, this model features traditional lacing and FootJoy's thin P.I.N.S., or Performance Insert System, cleat system. The standard model has an RRP of £87.50.

Secondly, there is a BOA option. Most people are now aware of FootJoy's BOA lacing system, that allows golfers to tighten their shoe by simply turning a dial on the back of the shoe, seen below.

FootJoy say the BOA system is easy-to-use, comfortable and also eliminates pressure points that can arise from tightening traditional laces. The new HydroLite is available in either a white or black colour option. The BOA model retails for slightly more than the standard model at £99.95.

The last and most modern option is the HydroLite SL, or Spikeless, model. Available in three different models, the Spikeless HydroLite gives players an ultra-low profile design that can be worn on and off the course. The HydroLite SL model has an RRP of £79.95.

FootJoy HydroLite Options

To begin with, FootJoy are offering each golfer that buys a new pair of HydroLites a free FJ poker chip. Whilst it may not sound like much, it represents the potential to win an opportunity to play with one of FootJoy's Tour players at the 2014 BMW Championship at Wentworth. One winner will be announced at the end of March, with additional buyers winning a host of FootJoy prizes.
