Cobra reintroduced the King brand to their line-up last year and backed it with an impressive range of woods, irons and wedges.

That line-up has got bigger with the relaunch of the new King Oversize irons, 22 years after Cobra introduced its first similarly named set, featuring Cobra's largest iron face built to give explosive distance across the entire face.

Senior Director of Product Marketing for Cobra Golf, Jose Miraflor explains:

We are excited to bring back the King Oversize set, and introduce our first iron that is at the USGA’s COR Limit. The oversized head will provide golfers with even more speed and distance from centre and off-centre.

As the name suggests the iron has an oversized head profile at address and it is this larger chassis which supports a face designed to deliver increased ball speeds on off-centre hits for more distance and forgiveness.

The increased size allows for a greater trampoline effect across the face at impact, which in turn generates more ball speed.

Cobra says the PWRshell face is a thinner and stronger face than in previous game improvement models and combines with the structure of the sole, which is thinner closer to the leading edge, to provide their largest SweetZone ever.

The irons have a hollow body construction that gives them a distinctive sound and feel and allows for strategic weight placement for a lower centre of gravity.

Weight has been removed from the centre of the clubhead and redistributed around the perimeter of the face to centre the CG for more precision without sacrificing forgiveness.

A new Aluminium medallion badge on the back of the club saves weight and allows for a high density tungsten weight to be strategically positioned low in the toe of the club to make the clubs very easy to play.

The grooves have been CNC milled to improve their structure and provide maximum spin and trajectory control. V-grooves on the 4-6 irons reduce spin, whilst U-Grooves from 7-PW optimise spin for shorter shots to the green. The GW and SW have wedge-spaced grooves to produce extra spin for shots around the green.

The clubs are finished with a premium Nickel Chrome plating to give better aesthetics as well as increasing the durability of the set.
