The King made his return to Cobra with the introduction of the space age Cobra King LTD driver earlier this year and with its latest release Cobra has made it clear the King is here to stay.

Those of you who've read our review of the Cobra King LTD will know that Cobra's designers used carbon fibre technology to achieve what they called Zero CG, a balance that they clearly would not want to upset with additional moveable weight technology on the sole of the club.

With the release of the King F6, King F6+ and King F6+ Pro series of drivers Cobra has added adjustable weight options to appeal to players who like personalise the set up of their clubs for optimum performance.

Seasoned Cobra watchers will recognise the evolution of the adjustable weight technologies in the new drivers from the previous generation Cobra Fly-Z & Fly-Z+ drivers, especially the similarities between the the Flip Zone found in the Fly-Z + with the Front and Back CG technology of the King F6

The King F6 and F6+ are not just re-badged takes on the previous generation however, with both drivers offering developments that make them Cobra's longest and most forgiving range of adjustable drivers to date.

Cobra King F6+ Driver

The King F6+ features a weight track with five positions from the front to the back to tune Centre of Gravity (CG), allowing players to optimise ball flight and maximise distance through adjusting launch and spin.

It is in the construction of the weight track that we can see the true advance Cobra has achieved in the King F6+. In most adjustable drivers the construction of the track that holds the movable weights constitutes a relatively large percentage of weight meaning engineers have less leeway to position discretionary weight to boost forgiveness.

Cobra has addressed this issue in the King F6+ by replacing the heavier titanium previously used to create the track structure with Carbon Fibre in what they are calling CarbonTrac Technology. The new design saves weight and allows the 18g moveable weight to be repositioned at five different locations along the track to optimise CG to the player's needs.

With the weight closer to the front the King F6+ will deliver a more penetrating ball flight and players can work their way back to the rear position to obtain what they are labelling as a towering flight.

The focus on saving weight is also evident in the design of the head that has a multi-material construction using what Cobra call T.O.P. (Thin Optimised Personalised) Technology. An 8-1-1 Titanium body is combined with a Carbon Fibre Crown in a lightweight structure, maximising the weight engineers can position elsewhere to boost performance and forgiveness.

The final pieces of the King F6+ jigsaw will be familiar to fans of Cobra golf clubs. The driver has a forged 8-1-1 Titanium face with the recognisable Speed Channel around its perimeter which minimises thickness and increases ball speeds across the face for greater distance on all strikes.

The King F6+ also features Cobra's enduring MyFly8 adjustable hosel technology that pairs with the SmartPad on the sole of the club to ensure that the club remains square at address regardless of the hosel setting selected. Eight options are available with lofts ranging from 9° to 12° including 3 draw settings.

The F6+ comes in three striking colours schemes, Glass Black with Vibrant Orange, Blue Aster and White Pearl.

The Cobra King F6+ is also available in a Pro version that has lower standard loft settings giving players the option of lofts than the standard version, from 7 to 10 degrees and 3 fade settings. The Pro version is only available right handed with the Glass Black and Vibrant Orange finish.

Cobra King F6 Drivers

The King F6 driver gives players a simpler way of moving the centre of gravity to the front or back of the clubhead to maximise distance by optimising the spin levels to suit their swings.

The body and crown of the club are also constructed from a new lightweight 8-1-1 Titanium with the design saving weight from the club head that has allowed Cobra's designers to position two CG positions for a movable weight at the front and back of the clubhead.

A 10 gram weight can be placed in either position and Cobra has handily labelled them with the type of ball flight that is promoted with the chosen centre of gravity placement.

Putting the weight in the back position will give a towering ball flight with maximum carry and maximum forgiveness whilst the front placement should give a more penetrating flight with more roll to maximise distance. It is interesting to note that Cobra say that both of the positions on the F6 driver result in a higher flight than the rear position in the Cobra F6+ driver.

The Cobra F6 features the MyFly8 and SmartPad technology offering eight easily adjustable loft setting to manage trajectory and fine tune launch conditions. The lofts the hosel enable range from 9° to 12° and include 3 draw settings.

The familiar E9 face has been re-engineered from the previous Fly-Z family with a Forged 8-1-1 Titanium variable thickness construction that is lighter, thinner and hotter, and which works with the Speed Channel that surrounds the face, to deliver more deflection and faster ball speeds across a larger area of the face.

Like the King F6+ driver the King F6 comes in three colour options, Glass Black with Vibrant Orange, Blue Aster and White Pearl.
