Cobra has announced an update to 2017’s F-MAX family with the release of a Superlite range of men’s and women’s drivers, fairway, hybrid and irons. Set for release on October 5th, the collection claims to be Cobra’s lightest offering ever and provides more club speed, distance and launch for those players with moderate to low swing speeds.

Cobra F-MAX Superlite Driver

The F-MAX Superlite drivers contain a lighter profile to allow for faster swing speeds whilst promoting a smoother tempo to create superior performance with great feel and strong forgiveness levels as Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for Cobra Golf, explains:

We are very excited about this driver; we’ve been able to engineer an incredibly forgiving, powerful club and keep the overall clubhead weight to less than 300 grams.

The F-MAX Superlite Driver will be the perfect solution for players who need the added speed of lightweight design without sacrificing forgiveness; those that will benefit from having a club that allows them to maximise their swing speed and launch angle.

The drivers are re-engineered with a 6-gram lighter clubhead, while maintaining an MOI of greater than 5,000 g/cm², delivering Cobra’s lightest driver head weight without sacrificing stability and forgiveness. Additionally, a 5-gram lighter shaft and a 7-gram lighter grip combine to deliver 18 grams in weight-savings, bringing to the total overall weight to 287 grams.

The oversized club head increases forgiveness by allowing more stability at the point of impact, whilst the forged 6-4 Titanium face insert with Cobra's E9 variable face thickness maintains ball speed across the face to help with poor strikes.

The driver comes in two options: a traditional-looking straight-neck design, or an offset hosel design to help golfers who fade the ball.

The men’s driver is £249 and both left and right-handed versions come with a 45g Superlite shaft in stiff, regular and lite flex. Lofts range from 9.5° to 11.5° in right-hand and 10.5° in left-hand. The women’s driver, also £249, is in the offset version only with a 40g shaft and 11.5° or 15° of loft.

Cobra F-MAX Superlite Fairway Wood

The F-MAX Superlite fairways also feature the same new technologies and enhancements as the driver to save weight and increase club head speed. Their lower profile and shallower face is made from forged 455 stainless steel, helping to optimise ball speed and launch across the face from all different types of lie.

Cobra F-Max Superlite Fairway

Priced at £179, the Men’s Fairways are available in both right and left handed in black/red, with 50 gram Superlite shafts in lite flex and 55 gram in regular and stiff flex. The lofts include 16°, 20° in both right and left hand and 23° in right-hand only.

The Women’s Fairways are black/Lexi blue and both right and left-hand models have a 50-gram Superlite shaft. They are available in 19°, 23° and 27° degrees.

Cobra F-MAX Superlite Hybrid

The F-MAX Superlite hybrids are designed to be interchangeable with the irons as a combo set and utlise the same weight-saving methods as the rest of the range.

The Forged 455 stainless steel face insert maintains ball speed across the face for better results on off-centre hits, and combines with the back/heel Centre of gravity weighting to ensure high launch and straighter flights.

Cobra F-Max Superlite Hybrid

The Crown alignment feature helps to keep the square face at address, whilst the slight offset of the head maintains a square face through impact and will help those players who tend to lose shots out to the right.

The hybrids are £159 per club and the men’s hybrids are available from a 19° 3-Hybrid to a 31° 7-Hybrid, whilst the women’s range from a 23.5° 4-Hybrid to a 32.5° 7-Hybrid.

Cobra F-MAX Superlite Irons

The F-MAX Superlite irons benefit from 16g of weight-saving when compared to their predecessors, including a 7g lighter Superlite shaft and Lamkin grip to ensure faster club and ball speeds and create better launch and distance, as Tom Olsavsky, Vice President of R&D for Cobra Golf, describes:

Building off of the success of our original F-MAX lightweight design, we’ve reengineered Superlite to be our lightest, fastest and most forgiving game improvement clubs ever. Any player with a moderate swing speed will benefit from the design innovations in this product line.

Progressive hosel lengths ensure that the centre of gravity of each iron is optimised for the desired launch and flight, whilst gradual increases in offset from wedge up to long iron for improved launch and to promote a right to left ball flight at the top end of the bag.

Cobra F-Max Superlite Irons

Accuracy and consistency are enhanced through weighting in the low heel and low toe areas, seeking to improve forgiveness on mis-hits, whilst the low profile shape and undercut cavity design raises ball speeds and combines with higher lofts to help players get the ball into the air with more ease.

Cobra F-Max Superlite Irons

The F-Max Superlite irons are available with graphite and steel shafts and there is also an option to create a combi-set by combining short irons with hybrids to suit their preferences. Irons range from 5-iron down to Gap Wedge for men and 6-iron to Sand Wedge for women, and are priced between £499 and £749 depending on configuration.
