Despite the success of the X2 Hot fairways there is not left in it's successor, the XR range of fairway woods, that Callaway are celebrating as an entirely new fairway wood family.

The Callaway XR fairways are built around the concept of distance from everywhere, with each element of the club finely tuned to push the limits for more speed and increased length.

Callaway XR Fairway Woods

The XR fairway features a new shape and updated face to boost both ball speed and distance as well as giving the level of forgiveness that makes it easy to hit.

Callaway XR Fairway Woods

The next generation of Callaway's Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup is both lighter and up to 36% thinner than previous incarnations, increasing ball speeds across the whole face for greater distance.

The face also is much more forgiving, with a 16% larger sweet spot than the the X2 Hot fairway to make it easier to hit and maintain distance across a larger area of the club head.

Callaway XR Fairway Wood Face

That club head has been completely re-designed to give a new head shape that maximises the benefits for players who use their metals mostly from the fairway. The XR has flatter leading edges and higher toe whilst in comparison with the the X2 Hot, the face height is shallower.

This new shape combines with the Internal Standing Wave to lower the centre of gravity by 20% and decrease spin by 200 rpm, optimising launch conditions for more ball speed.

Callaway XR Fairway Wood Toe

As with the XR drivers the XR fairways utilise shaft loading technology from the Project X LZ shaft during the downswing for more speed and to maximise energy transfer to the ball.

Six loft options from 15° to 25° are available and the XR fairway also features a square face angle to give all players confidence at address.

Callaway XR Pro Fairway Woods

The Callaway XR Pro fairway features the same gains in ball speed and forgiveness as the regular XR thanks to the thinner and more forgiving face and weight positioning of the Internal Standing Wave.

The head re-design is very much focussed on the better player however, with a smaller and more compact head than the XR. Callaway has also focussed on the XR Pro much more playable from the tee, with the CG weighting and the sloping crown combining to make it easier to shape the ball and create a draw than in the previous generation X2 Hot Pro.

Callaway XR Pro Fairway Woods

Available in lofts of 14°, 16° and 18°, the XR Pro has an open face angle to suit the eye of better players and comes with the Project X LZ Pro shaft as standard.

Callaway XR Deep Fairway Woods

The XR Deep have been designed for players who primarily use this club from the tee for greater distance and more forgiveness.

The head face height and depth and height are specifically designed to be used from the tee and complement the lower CG and reduced spin from the low and more forward position of the clubs Internal Standing Wave.

The XR Deep comes in a loft of 14° and features the same open face angle as the XR Pro to appear to better players. The XR Deep comes with the Project X LZ Pro shaft as standard and is available as a left handed club.
