The Callaway X2 Hot irons are the second generation of distance irons in the X Hot range, following the original Callaway X Hot irons. The X2 Hot irons will be Callaway's longest irons in 2014, thanks in large part to new undercut channel behind the face.

Deeper than before, the undercut allows the face to flex and rebound more at impact making the X2 Hot 3 to 5 yards longer than the original X Hot irons.

Callaway X2 Hot Long and Short Irons

The overall design has been trimmed down slightly, specifically the depth of the design, whilst maintaining the same forgiveness and distance that a game-improvement player needs. Perimeter weighting helps increase the sweet spot and get the ball launching higher whilst a stabilizing arch reinforces the face stiffness improving the club's sound and feel.

The triangular, arch piece in the back of the head gives golfers a little more help in the lower portion of face. This is the area most golfers tend to strike the ball and the new stabilizing arch design helps move the sweet spot lower to accommodate these shots.

But the Callaway X2 Hot irons are not purely about speed and distance. After all what is the point in having a club that goes further, if it doesn't go where you aiming?

By redesigning the shape of the X2 Hot irons, specifically along the sole and the back of the clubhead, Callaway were able to increase the MOI and turf interaction. They say consistency has improved by as much as 40% and claim the X2 Hot irons are the most accurate distance irons they have made.

Callaway has paired the X2 Hot irons with two lightweight shaft options. For those who prefer steel, a True Temper Speed Step 85-gram shaft is available for the first time in a Callaway iron as standard. Or if you prefer graphite, Callaway offer the Aldila Tour Blue which improves feel and control as well as launching the ball higher.
