Adams have redesigned the Tight Lies fairway wood, and it's twice as hot as it was before.

Originally launched in the mid-1990s, the Adams Tight Lies had a distinct shape and performance designed to sit low to the ground and launch high and far. The new Adams Tight Lies features many of the same design elements with the addition of the award-winning Velocity Slot Technology.

Cut-Thru Slots in the sole and the crown of the clubhead provide maximum face deflection, promoting a higher ball speeds whilst also providing increased forgiveness across the face. Adams say that, thanks to the Cut-Thru Slots, the new Tight Lies is twice as hot as the original.

The iconic low-profile, upside-down design of the original Tight Lies is carried through into the 2013 version. The shape creates a very low CG (centre of gravity), below the CG of the ball, making it easier to get the ball in the air with more control and consistency. The height of the Tight Lies clubface is 19% lower than the average fairway wood.

Further adding to the shape is the unique Tri-Sole Design. Designed to make the Tight Lies playable from almost any lie on the golf course, the sole reduces interaction with the turf, improving performance from the fairway, rough, sand or even the most bare lies.

"In the ever-present pursuit of maximum distance, today's fairway woods have become mini-drivers - extremely difficult to hit from anywhere other than from a tee," said Adam Golf's Justin Honea, Director of R&D.

"The low profile design places the center of gravity (CG) below the CG of the ball, making it easy to hit the ball in the air. The unique tri-sole design makes it easy to hit from a multitude of challenging lies and then we added a refined Cut-Thru Slot design so this new Tight Lies is twice as hot as the original. It's the perfect blend of playability and performance."

Those that remember those white, half stripes on the shaft will be pleased to know that they will also be featured on the new model, along with a matte black finish on the clubhead.

Initally, only a 16-degree model will be released, but that will be joined by a 19-degree 5-wood, a 22-degree 7-wood and a strong 14-degree 3-wood. A lower-launching, lower-spinning Tour version will be available in either 14.5 or 18 degrees from September.

The 2013 Adams Tight Lies fairway will come standard with the Bassara Eagle graphite shaft, whilst the Tour version will feature Aldila's Tour Blue shaft.

The starting RRP for the Adams Tight Lies fairway will be £149.99 for the standard model and £189.99 for the Tight Lies Tour.
