Tiger Woods 2014

It took me twelve years to break par on a golf course, but thanks to EA Sports' Tiger Woods video game, it only took me a matter of a few weeks to break 60 at TPC Sawgrass.

Since 1998, myself and almost 30 million kids (and adults, let's be honest) have been fist-pumping their way to course records thanks to the Tiger Woods video game. This year the game, that earned Tiger more money than he made on the course last year, unveils its 16th edition.

Available on either Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014 features a host of new characters, features and courses to make you forget about a golf-less winter and get back on the links... virtually.

We heard from the makers of the game to find out what gamers and golfers can expect in the 2014 edition.

The Legends

The highlight of the new edition is 'Legends of the Majors' Mode. You can now sit (or stand) in your living room and go head-to-head against Arnie, Jack, Seve, Hogan, Snead, Trevino, Bobby Jones and others.

The Legends mode is broken into six different eras from the Dawn of Tournament Golf up to Legends in the Making. Test your game and play the legends in some of the most famous major scenarios and situations, playing the equipment and courses of old.

Ever wondered whether Tiger is better than Jack? or if either would have beaten Bobby Jones in the days of persimmon woods? Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014 lets you find out. Gamers can even play with the stars of tomorrow as Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley and Bubba Watson join the cast of players.

Ladies First

The 16th edition of Tiger Woods features an LPGA Tour in career mode for the first time. Play with players such as Lexi Thompson and Paula Creamer as you compete in a season long race for the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Twilight Golf

While most gamers sit down to a game of Tiger Woods golf in the evening, past editions of the game have offered only morning or afternoon tee times. That is set to change with the newest version of the game, with the addition of Night Golf. Tee it up in a Glow Ball Tournament and watch your glow-in-the-dark ball sail down the fairway.

No More Ties

One drawback of past editions of the game was that if an event ended in a tie between you and a virtual opponent, it ended that way.

New to Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014 is the addition of playoffs. Whether its an Open Championship 4-hole playoff, a US Open 18-hole playoff or a Masters sudden-death decider, each event mirrors the playoff scenario in real life to let you decide the title in true fashion.

Major Upgrade

For the first time in any Tiger Woods video game, you can play for each of the majors in a bid to win the Grand Slam. In fact, there is even a Masters Historic Version lets gamers get to experience even more of golf’s most famous events. Players will be able to tune up their swings on the famous Augusta National practice area, play the par-3 course and even tackle Augusta as it was originally designed back in 1934.

Track Your Stats

Ever watched a PGA or European Tour event and seen the live stats of the event pop up on the screen? The 2014 edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour brings that experience to your gaming. View updated leaderboards of driving distance, greens in regulation and several other stats, as they appear during play.

Join The Club

You wouldn't always play at your home course alone, so the guys at EA Sports developed the new Tiger Woods game to allow you to play with your friends and fellow gamers. Players now have the ability to invite up to 100 members, chat online, hold tournaments and track statistics to create their own competitive environment.

You can also feel a real tournament atmosphere by playing with up to 24 players online at the same time.

Look out for the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2014 in shops and online from March 26th, 2013.
