The 7,300 yards long, par 71 Riviera course, known as Hogan’s Alley, is one of the top courses on Tour. The combination of tight, tree-lined fairways bordered by generally thick Kikuyu rough with small, testy Poa Annua greens favours accurate, patient and experienced players. The course tends to favour left to right hitters. Local Californian players tend to go well here. Although this week’s field is fairly strong this event has produced more than its fair share of high priced shock winners.
OUTRIGHT: Charles Howell 1pt win or place 50/1
It may pay to take this value price on Howell this week. He has shown some decent form in recent outings with a notable top five in his opening event in Hawaii and has excellent course form of 6T 02, 2nd 03 and 1st 07 which suggests he is more than comfortable on this track

OUTRIGHT: Michael Sim 1pt win or place 55/1
Aussie Sim may have received more than his fair share of criticism for laying up on the 72nd hole last week when he had a chance of winning but it may pay to ignore that this week for a number of reasons. Sim has the perfect game for Riviera with his natural fade shot. Secondly Riviera demands a thinking, strategic type of game which also appears to play into his strengths. Finally Sim performed well last week on the poa annua greens he will face again this week. As a multiple winner on last year’s Nationwide Tour a win this week for Sim would be no real shock.
